A Typical Day at MindSpace Student Care Centre: An Inside Look

After school care programmes are gaining popularity here in Singapore, especially among dual income households where both parents work. Many parents now value safe, supportive environments where their children can spend their after-school hours productively while they’re still at work.

MindSpace offers after-school care programmes for students from Primary 1 to 5. Here, your child will engage in academically enriching activities as well as other programmes catered towards their mental and physical wellbeing. Here’s what a typical day at MindSpace student care centre looks like.

Arrival and Lunch

Healthy meals are provided for your child upon their arrival from school. We have set aside adequate time for them to rest and enjoy their nutritious meals, which are prepared with their physical and mental development in mind. Arrival times are also staggered to accommodate different school dismissal schedules across levels.

Subject Enrichment Classes

Subject enrichment classes will last about 1 hour 45 minutes, with a different subject focus for each day. The core subjects taught include Chinese, English and Mathematics. For Primary 3 to 5 students, Science is introduced as an additional subject.

In addition to focusing on core subjects, specific days will be dedicated to MindChamps’ proprietary learning methods, namely The Art of Learning™ and the Champion Mindset™ Booster. Both these programmes foster a sense of control over their learning process and help build the mental resilience and confidence they need to tackle challenges.

Let’s Energise: Movement Breaks

In between learning sessions, your child will enjoy a short 15 minute break time, where they will be encouraged to move their bodies in a healthy manner. These activities help students perk up by releasing ‘feel-good’ hormones that combat drowsiness and fatigue. They also promote blood circulation to the brain, increasing their mental alertness and improving concentration.

Champion Mindset Moments and Homework Success

The Champion Mindset, developed by Emeritus Professor Alan Snyder, is a distillation of all the key attributes that high achievers from across various fields personify. This mindset can help your child develop the mental resilience and strength they need to overcome any challenge.

This approach is the main guiding principle used by our MindSpace teachers as they guide your child in completing their homework and revising the day’s lesson.

Free Play Time

Towards the end of the day, your child will be allowed some free time, where they will be able to rest and relax. This session encourages them to develop social skills as they engage with other children, and learn the value of good relationship building and emotional regulation. This free play session will be supervised by our team, making your child’s safety our foremost priority.
